The cost is reliance on customers at a transactional level without the stability of supporter commitment, public credibility, or financial independence. The strategic consequence may be relevance without resilience. These organisations can demonstrate value continuously through the transactions that sustain them, but may remain exposed when earned income falls and with fewer stakeholder relationships that have sufficient commitment to bridge the gap.
